Questions worth asking before you install anything.
Including the ones where the answer is no. If something here rules us out for your store, that is the page working.
What it touches.
Access and safety
- Will it change my inventory? No. The app has read-only access and never writes a quantity to your store. It cannot correct a count, receive stock, or adjust anything, even if you want it to.
- What about marking a purchase order received? That records the receipt HERE and does not change your Shopify inventory. If you are coming from Stocky this is the habit worth unlearning first, because in Stocky receiving did move stock. You still adjust quantities in Shopify the way you do now.
- What data can it see?Four things: products, orders, inventory levels and locations. That is the entire permission set and you can read it on Shopify's own grant screen before you agree.
- Do you read customer data? No. Not names, not email addresses, not addresses, not phone numbers, not customer ids. Our order webhooks name the fields they want and customer fields are not among them. No query in the app selects a customer.
- Can I change a number it got wrong?Yes, and once you do, nothing automated overwrites it. A value you typed is treated as the truth by every later job, including the nightly one. If we disagree with your figure, we use yours.
- What happens if I uninstall?Your store's data is deleted automatically, normally 48 hours after the uninstall. The delay is a recovery window: reinstall inside it and you keep your costs, lead times and settings. Two honest qualifications. If Shopify's uninstall notification never reaches us, which does happen, the deletion runs on a longer timer instead, because at that point we cannot tell a store that left from one that is simply quiet, and erasing a live store's data would be the worse mistake. And a backup taken before the deletion holds the old records until it expires, in no case longer than 30 days. We would rather state both than claim deletion is instant and total.
- Is absolutely everything deleted?Almost. The exception is our own product-analytics rows, the ones that count things like how many stores completed setup. Those are not deleted, they are pseudonymized: your myshopify.com domain is replaced with an irreversible-in-practice keyed hash and the row is kept, so historical measurements of the app do not vanish. They contain no customer information and nothing you typed. We call that pseudonymization rather than anonymization on purpose, because myshopify.com domains are public and could be enumerated by someone holding our key. The privacy policy sets this out in full.
Where the numbers come from.
The forecast
- How does it know my sales rate?Units sold per day, per variant, over the days the product was actually available to sell. A day you were out of stock is left out of the average rather than counted as a zero, but only when there is evidence you were out: an interior gap with no corroboration is counted as a real day of no sales.
- Why is it more cautious than I expected?Deliberately. Under-forecasting shows up as a stockout you can see and fix. Over-forecasting turns your cash into stock that sits there, and you may not notice for months. Every ambiguous call resolves toward ordering less, and you can always raise a quantity by hand.
- What if I do not sell enough to forecast? It says so and leaves the number out. On a slow-moving variant you will see "selling too rarely to forecast" rather than a confident figure derived from three sales. That is the app working, not failing.
- I never filled in my product costs. Does it still work?Yes, and this is the part most tools get wrong. Shopify has a unit cost field and on most small stores nobody ever filled it in. A tool that reads an empty cost falls back to ranking by units sold, which quietly puts your cheapest fast mover first. We work out a cost for every product when you install, label it as our estimate everywhere it appears, and you can overwrite any of them.
- How do I know which numbers you made up?Every value carries where it came from, per field: read from Shopify, our estimate, your Stocky export, your own receipts, or not set. Nothing is presented as measured when it was estimated, and "not set" is shown as not set rather than as a zero.
- Can I see the arithmetic?Every row opens to it: the rate, the window, the lead time, the safety stock and which inputs were measured versus estimated. The point is that you can disagree with a suggestion for a specific reason and change the input that caused it.
The answers that are no.
What it does not do
- Is this a Stocky replacement? No, and not a partial one either. Stocky did receiving, stocktakes, transfers and label printing. This does none of that. It does the reorder half: what to buy, when, how much, and why. If what you lose on 31 August is the purchasing workflow, look at a purchasing app, and we name one.
- Multiple locations? No. Single location. Not "not yet on the roadmap", just no for now, and if you hold stock in two places the numbers here will not describe your business.
- Does it sync with Amazon, eBay or TikTok Shop? No. Shopify only.
- QuickBooks or Xero?No accounting integration of any kind.
- Barcode scanning, receiving workflows, stocktakes? No, no and no.
- Does it include advertising spend in the margin? No. Margin here is revenue minus unit cost, and nothing else. There is no data source for ad spend per product, so a number claiming to include it would be invented.
Plans.
What the free tier actually covers
- What is a "variant"?Every sellable version of a product. A t-shirt in four sizes and three colours is twelve variants, not one product. This matters more than anything else on this page: a 50-product apparel store at 15 variants each is 750 variants, so read the limits as variants and not as products.
- What is free? The whole product on 30 tracked variants: the reorder list, the budget planner, the stockout lookback, the arithmetic on every row, and the Stocky import. Plus 2 purchase order exports a month and a weekly email digest.
- What do the paid plans add?Size, not features. Every capability is on every plan. Lite at $19 is 2,000 variants, 20 exports a month and a daily digest available if you want one. Pro at $39 is 5,000 variants and unlimited exports.
- What happens when I go over? You keep seeing your most urgent variants up to your limit, and the rest are counted rather than silently dropped: the screen tells you how many are being held back. It does not name them individually, so being precise about that rather than implying otherwise. The ones held back are the least urgent, not the most.
Still not sure? Install it on the free tier. It forecasts every tracked
variant on the first night with nothing to configure, so you will know within a day whether the
suggestions look like your business. If it is not for you, uninstalling starts the deletion
described above.
Coming from Stocky
Export your data before 31 August whatever you decide, because supplier contacts, lead times and minimum order quantities cannot be exported from Stocky at all and are gone after that date. What to export, in what order, and what cannot be recovered afterwards.
